Cut Basics for Fancy Shape Diamonds

Unlike Round diamonds that have generally accepted parameters, there us much dispute over what constitues Fine make for a Fancy Shape diamond.  Even today most labs that cut grade Fancy Shape diamonds do so based on mosltly subjective parameters.  Below are some of the basics about the cut and dimension relationship of some Fancy Shape diamonds. 

Emerald - cut corner issue, L/W ratio issue

Radiant - Suqare or REctangular - priced the same

PC - Rectangular brings down price sharply.  # odf chevrons vary widely.
Flat or high crown - Big vs Cut.

Cushion - The new shape on the block.

Propietary Cuts - stay away from them you will be unable to resell your
diamond at a fair price.
